DC Cherry Blossom Kizomba Weekender (CBKW) is a one-of-a-kind event held during the cherry blossom season in the greater Washington DC. It’s a unique celebration of spring, life, music, dance, community, African roots, authentic connections and international unity.

CBKW features 3 days of dance classes, 4 nights of evening dance parties, and a variety of social and cultural activities.

Primary dance and music genres represented at CBKW are Urban Kiz, Kizomba and Tarraxo.

LOGISTICS & TRAVEL ✈️????

The main venue for the event is Crown Dance Studio located at 2820 Dorr Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031

This group is to connect attendees with roommates to share hotel rooms or Airbnb rentals with for their DC stay and/or with DC area dancers willing to host the out-of-town guests in their homes. During the event this group is to also connect for ride shares when catching rides from and to the airport, exploring DC and traveling between the Weekender activities.

The two nearest airports are DCA and IAD. BWI is a little further but often has better flights, so if you’re flying in, you may want to investigate it as an option.

COVID POLICY ????????

To lower COVID related risks during the event, the Weekender attendees are required to:

1. At the event check-in present a proof of vaccination or a medical provider certified note of exception based on a qualified medical condition. Or medical provider certified note of recovery from a COVID infection in the last 60 days. A photo copy shown on your cell phone is acceptable.

2. At the event check-in present a negative PCR or antigen test taken no more than 3 days prior to arrival to the event. Acceptable proofs of testing are 1) For tests processed in a lab; official results report, either hard copy or electronic. 2) For self-tests; a photograph with negative test held up to the attendee’s face with an electronic time stamp of when the photo was taken (most cell phones capture that time stamp automatically). Testing is required regardless of vaccination or recent recovery status.

3. Wear appropriate face masks over the mouth and nose during all event activities.

This policy is subject to change and may be loosened or tightened depending on the changes in COVID spread metrics. We’re closely monitoring updates from the national and local public health authorities and will adjust our policy, as needed, to align with applicable guidelines in effect. Any changes to the above policy will be communicated via official event pages and emails to ticketholders.
